Salida School of Distinction

Congratulations to Salida School District R-32-J, to administrators, teachers and staff, to parents and students, to the entire community on being “accredited with Distinction” by the Colorado Department of Education for the second consecutive year.

The ranking is the highest performance accreditation awarded by the state measuring academic achievement, academic growth, academic growth gaps and post secondary and workforce readiness.

It puts the Salida district into the top 9 percent of the districts across the state.

Officials credit the improved performance over the past few years to a change in culture at the district. This includes teachers taking an interest in individual students and helping struggling students master course materials.

Among other things, the performance improvements also reflect students putting forth their best efforts on achievements tests.

Salida completed construction of the new Longfellow Elementary School.  This newest addition to the school system brings all of our school buildings into modern times.
