Salida Vandaveer Ranch Plan

vandaveer

The Salida Vandaveer Ranch has a plan.  The Salida Natural Resource Center Development Corp. board has a draft master plan for the Salida Vandaveer Ranch.

The draft master plan includes a housing development of 191 lots on 57.87 acres, a large recreational area and space set aside for workforce housing on the 190.44 acre ranch.

The housing layout conforms with the City of Salida development code with minimum square feet of 5,625.  The roads will be 60-foot rights of way and 20-foot alleys at the rear of the properties.

The neighborhood was also designed with several open-space parcels, allowing for a considerable trail system. The main loop of the trail will be 4.18 miles with another 1.21 miles of connecting trails.  There will be four designated parking areas; Trailhead, Recreation Center, Soccer fields, Hockey and bike parking.

The recreation opportunities are considerable. The will be four baseball fields, four athletic utility fields, four sand volleyball courts, an 18,000 square foot skate park, a half-acre dog park, a 4.68 acre bike park, a quarter-acre community garden, a 4.19 acre music venue with stage, a 42,000 square foot recreation center, a 5,400 square foot maintenance building and space for bocce ball, horse shoes and a playground.

The plans are still in draft form.  After the NRCDC board has reviewed and approved the master plan, it will present the plan to the public for feedback.

The master plan encompasses land adjacent to the current Salida Natural Resources Center.  The Natural Resource Center is an effort to consolidate Salida’s resource management agencies on a single multi-agency campus. Six separate federal and state natural resource management agencies currently operate 12 different facilities throughout Chaffee County. Currently, the U.S. Forest Service is the only tenant in the Salida Natural Resources Center.
