F Street Bridge Salida, Colorado

The Historic F Street Bridge Salida, Colorado was built in 1907-08 by the Pueblo Bridge Company from Pueblo, Colorado.  It is a two-span concrete arch bridge over Arkansas River on F Street. It is open to two-lane traffic with a turn around and parking area on the far side.  It is designed with two reinforced concrete closed-spandrel Luten arches each spanning 64 feet. The design was patented in 1907 by Daniel Luten. The bridge with 2 spans and a total length of 60 feet (18 m) is believed to be the first bridge of this type built by the company. The total length of the bridge is 128 feet with a deck width of 50.8 feet.  It was posted to the National Register of Historic Places in February of 1985.  An average of 691 cars pass over the bridge daily.

The F Street Bridge is a local gathering place.  The view changes from kayaks, swimmers and anglers in the warm months to icy formations in the winter. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting photos from the bridge.
